What exactly is WordPress cloning and why is it a very useful tool to have in your webmaster's bag? Most individuals think this is a dishonest technique for duplicating sites to garner more link traffic and love, and while that may have been accurate (and useful!) Previously, this is an entirely different endeavor.
WordPress cloning, as it applies to fix hacked wordpress, is the act of creating an exact copy of your WordPress install. What is great is that in just a few clicks, you can do it with the correct software. There are a number of reasons why you might want to do this. Here are just a few.
No software system is immune to bugs and vulnerabilities. Security holes will be discovered and bad men will do their best to exploit them. Keeping your software up-to-date is a good way because reliable software vendors will mend their products once security holes are found.
Move your wp-config.php file up one directory from the WordPress root. WordPress will look for it there if it can't be found in the main directory. Additionally, nobody else will be able to read the document unless they have SSH or FTP access.
Can you see that folder, what if you visit WP-Content/plugins? If so, upload that blank Index.html file into that folder as well so people can't see what plugins you might why not look here have. Because even if your version of WordPress is up to date, if you're using a plugin or an old plugin with a security hole, someone can use this to get access.
Do your homework and some searching, but if you're pressed for time and need to get this try the WordPress safety plugin that I use. It's a relief to know that my site (and business!) are secure.
